PATNA: The Bihar government is learned to have sounded a high alert across the state following the surgical strikes carried out by the Army across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pak-occupied Kashmir in the wee hours of Thursday.
Sources said the state government move followed a talk between Union home minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Nitish Kumar over the phone. Security has also been beefed up on the Indo-Nepal border, the sources said.

State DGP P K Thakur, however, refused to divulge details. "We are not in a position to give details to the media. Several meetings are already going on with defence personnel," he told TOI and added, however, that the state police were on high alert to ensure no untoward incident took place.
Preferring anonymity, an officer with the state police's intelligence wing, special branch, admitted quite a few sleeper cells of terror groups like Indian Mujahideen and outlawed SIMI were believed to have bases in the state.
"They struck on October 27, 2013 in different parts of Patna, including Gandhi Maidan where Narendra Modi held a rally. In July 2013, nine bombs exploded in a terror attack at the Bodh Gaya temple premises," he recalled.
According to special branch inputs, a good number of supporters of Afzal Guru, who was hanged in connection with the attack on Indian Parliament, are living in districts like Siwan, Sitamarhi, Bhagalpur, Kishanganj and Darbhanga. "The DMs and SPs of these districts have been asked to hold meetings with locals to ensure peace," the intelligence official said.
The security cover of Beur prison and the Patna airport has also been enhanced as at least 10 people booked in terror cases are lodged in the jail located on the outskirts of Patna.
